As Principal QA Engineer you will drive the execution of the QA plan, working closely with the QA Project Lead to formulate the best QA approach, provide hands on technical and practical QA know how, and advise the QA Lead so they can make decisions. You will also play a major part across the organisation working with Principal in other teams to develop QA excellence and ensure we are efficient.

  • Become the QA Expert for a given Project or area of specialisation
  • Actively participate in requirement and design reviews of upcoming features. Detail clearly what is expected from QA to deliver said features
  • Assisting the QA Project Lead in developing test Strategy, and flagging up when a change might be required
  • To own test cases for a project including best practises, depth, organisation, quality and reporting methods
  • Actively QA your own areas and ensure defects are entered. This will include taking on features which are technically or practically more challenging
  • Identity opportunities for process improvements relating to QA and Agile, presents these to the QA Project Lead
  • Influence meaningful QA metrics that enable the QA Project Lead to make decisions that improve product quality


  • Be a strong voice for QA in planning, weekly meetings, daily scrums and other team Agile practices
  • Communicate and/ or escalate issues encountered during test execution within the QA team, ensuring the QA Project Lead is always kept up to date with serious defects
  • Influence project-level decisions and QA best practices
  • Lead ‘areas of QA’ such as regression and feature testing, or an area of specialisation e.g. network QA for the team
  • Role model and mentor that seniors can learn from. Go out of your way to ensure everyone is always learning
  • Coordinate with off-shore resources, monitoring the deliverables


  • Excellent understanding of the QA process and testing terminology
  • Vast knowledge of games development methodology, particularly Agile software development
  • Proven experience testing in an embedded environment
  • Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals
  • Experience in passing on skills, e.g. teaching, mentoring, demonstrations or presentations of particular areas of knowledge
  • ISTQB qualified a big plus
  • Experience in identifying development process problems and proposing solutions
  • Strong grasp of technical problems within games QA e.g. server vs client, branch integrations, metadata, network, API, compliance etc
  • High levels of reporting and presentation; aware of key QA metrics to measure success
