Job Description Amiqus have partnered with a hugely successful indie developer in Derby who are constantly evolving and thriving due to the ambition of its team.

They are now seeking a highly motivated Junior Engine Programmer who will be responsible for responsible for modifying their custom version of Unreal Engine 4. You will be investigating performance optimisations authoring modifications to the engine and creating engine tools. You will also be responsible for developing a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 4 to inform the game team’s decisions. 

Your role will be to unlock the capability of the engine for the gameplay team. This will include optimisations for the game client game server and engine. You will investigate a variety of engine functions including the network layer streaming game logic server logic and animation.

Responsibilities

  • Modify extend and maintain Unreal Engine 4.
  • Improve understanding inside several codebases.


Required Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other relevant experience. 
  • The ability to operate in a large and complex codebase.
  • Have a strong grasp of C++ engine design programming and debugging.
  • A working knowledge of Git and SVN. 
  • A desire to achieve difficult tasks.
  • A methodical mind and the ability to think outside the box.
  • A strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and constantly improve
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communicator with the ability to articulate systems and ideas effectively


Preferred Skills

  • Undertaken modifications to Unreal Engine 4.
  • Professional experience with Unreal Engine 4.
  • Developed personal game engine projects.
  • Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
