Job Description You will be part of a dedicated Technical Art team working on the award winning Total War series.

The team is focused on improving the quality and efficiency of creating art for our games and you will be a key part of helping the artists realise their vision in the game. This role will have you in contact with many different areas of art production and you’ll be contributing significantly to our art pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

You will be working with other Technical Artists to support the art team day-to-day. As part of this support you will be helping develop scripted tools to expedite artist workflows and come up with technical solutions for art issues and requests.

Day to day you will work closely with the artists to help debug and fix art issues during asset creation and in game, and ensure high quality and efficiency of art asset production through the entire art pipeline.

You will also be liaising with Art Leads and Programming teams to develop new asset pipelines, and will need to communicate ideas to these key stakeholders and back to the rest of the Technical Art team.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of 3ds Max (or similar 3D package).
  • Proven experience with scripting languages – e.g. Maxscript; Mel; Python.
  • Understanding of art game pipelines.
  • Understanding of rendering techniques such as PBR
  • Ability to explain and document technical solutions
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with others to solve issues
  • Experience working in game development as a technical artist
  • Passion for games!


Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Substance (Designer and Painter)
  • Experience with general purpose programming languages – e.g. Python; C; C++
  • Experience authoring shaders
