Job Description Gamer Network is seeking an SEO Manager to ensure that our award-winning editorial reaches the widest possible audience.

The SEO Manager will report into the Audience Development Director and be a crucial contributor to our ongoing audience growth. Our focus on news and guides content has delivered significant audience growth in recent years, and we are looking forward to a busy 2020 as new consoles are announced and launched.

We are looking for an established SEO Manager who is looking for a new challenge in the thriving gaming and pop culture industry, or an experienced and enthusiastic SEO Executive who is ready to step up to a more senior role.

Job responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a winning SEO strategy for our portfolio, with a particular focus on our main sites of Eurogamer, VG247, USG, Rock Paper Shotgun and Metabomb
  • Develop and communicate on-page best practice to all relevant editors and writers, and provide ongoing advice on keyword strategy and link building strategy 
  • Devise and deliver weekly and monthly reports on status and performance.
  • Support technical SEO strategy by monitoring SEO health metrics, communicating technical improvements to developers, and identifying and specifying the development of SEO-specific platform features
  • Provide SEO-specific guidance on the ongoing development of our in-house publishing platform and guide the migration of existing sites onto itBe the central internal resource for SEO insight, delivering both training and ongoing support. Keep abreast of new technologies and S
  • SEO practice, and communicate them to relevant people in a timely and efficient fashion
  • Work with site heads to inform content strategy, and offer advice and feedback on how to create trusted, informative content that ranks at the top of SERPs

Essential skills and experience:
  • Demonstrable previous experience in an SEO-focused role, either in-house or at an agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO best practice and principles
  • Extensive experience with SEO tools including (or similar to) SEMRush, Sistrix, Google Search Console, Botify, Screaming Frog and Advanced Web Ranking
  • Prior experience of working in a fast-moving, results-driven environment
  • Experience with Google Analytics or similar analytics platform
  • Ability to work across multiple teams
  • Detail-orientated and with excellent time management skills
  • A keen interest in digital publishing with an eye on future trends and technologies

Desirable skills and experience:
  • Passion for gaming and pop culture 
  • Experience working in consumer editorial
  • Degree-level education
