"To apply: Ref - 5301300. A fantastic, northern games studio is looking for a mid-level Environment Artist to join their team working on groundbreaking VR narrative titles!
We are looking for an Environment Artist to join our team working on an exciting unannounced VR game with a licensed movie IP. You will have the chance to take ownership for areas of the project as well as taking on informal mentoring duties for junior artists.
Asset Creation - You will work with the art team in the creation of game-ready assets for the project. You will be able to take ownership of a specific environment within the project, contributing your artistic skills to shape its visual identity.
Optimisation - You will be responsible for optimising assets to enhance performance and memory efficiency while maintaining the intended visual quality. This involves understanding techniques for reducing file sizes, optimising polygon counts, and improving frame rates to ensure a smooth player experience.
Mentoring - You will have the opportunity to informally mentor and train more junior artists. This involves sharing your knowledge, providing guidance on best practices, reviewing artwork, and helping them develop their skills and understanding of game development principles.
Are you the right person?
The right person for this role will already have experience in an environment artist role in a games studio, we are looking for someone who can showcase stylised environment work on their portfolio.
- Experienced creating stylised environments for a video game
- Strong 3D modelling skills
- Good examples of high-quality texturing
- Wider knowledge of optimised UV’s
- Good understanding of composition
- Able to apply composition knowledge within a game engine
- Natural artistic abilities
