Lead Game Designer – Console/PC Projects – Remote Working

A North East based Games studio are currently looking for a Lead Game Designer to work on a range of new titles on Console and VR Platforms, some of which are based on huge box-office IP’s. The studio is renowned in the Console/VR industry for creating high end games and have continually set the bar in the market on both single and multiplayer titles.

You will be working hand in hand with the Co-Founders, outlining new ideas for the games, such as prototyping, mechanic design, core game design and interactive narration for the players – you must also bring FUN to the games! You will be up to date with present Console/PC trends and enjoy playing and making games. The ideal candidate will understand the Console/PC market and have good knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.

This role will promote freedom in your work style and will allow you to be creative with your design – the design is at the heart of all their games so it’s important to understand the overall experience of playing the game, rather than focusing solely on the mechanics.

As a key member of the team, you will also get involved with core design principles and be able to implement new ideas on large-scale projects. You’ll also help recruit, mentor and develop designers for the team as well.

There is a competitive salary on offer, including exclusive studio benefits, flexible working hours, pension and a generous holiday allowance. This role is 100% remote working (indefinitely) or can be hybrid if you prefer some onsite days. You must be based in the UK at present to be eligible for the 100% remote working option.

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Game Designer in the video games industry
  • Held either Senior or Lead titles in the past
  • A great knowledge of games and an excellent understanding of what makes them work
  • Experience writing clear and concise specs and feature documentation

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a studio who are working on amazing games, which have a great reputation in the games community and have been bought/downloaded and played by audiences in the high millions. To apply please send your CV to
