Our client is a leading developer and publisher of games and is also one of Europe’s biggest independent studios operating across books, comics, TV and film. They have a rich portfolio of iconic IP and successful game releases.
As their Lead Technical Animator, you’ll be dedicated to leading a team of Technical Animators to deliver high-quality animation solutions. You will research new technologies, innovations and processes to improve the studios animation solutions.
This role would also suit a Senior Technical Animator looking for an exciting challenge where you will be a mentor and role model for the Technical Animation team as well as working to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm within the team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of anatomy and body mechanics
- Expertise with 3D software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya and MotionBuilder with a technical focus on rigging and skinning, also Blender is ideal
- Deep understanding of the video game development process and production pipelines
- Ability to focus individuals and teams to achieve a specific outcome to drive performance
- Expert understanding of writing tools with MEL/Python/PyMel
- In-depth knowledge of Motion Capture
- Extensive knowledge of Maya and/or MotionBuilder API
- Able to develop resolutions to unusually challenging problems and mentor individuals and teams to solve problems creatively
- Experience with software like Houdini and KineFX
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a team of Technical Animators with best practice people management techniques
- Co-ordinate with Animation Directors, Lead Animators, Designers, Programmers and Producers to balance creative vision with production realities
- Work with PBR pipeline and advance game engine tools
- Research new technologies, innovations and create tools to advance animation efficiency
- Verify the quality of the animation pipeline, make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints and artistic direction.
- Produce or supervise the creation of high-quality character, body and, facial rigs with attention to latest practices in facial animation techniques.
