Mid to Senior Gameplay Programmer

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented programmer to join the team behind Alien: Isolation, Halo Wars 2 and the Total War franchise, to create thrilling game experiences on a new project being built in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). The project is based at our headquarters in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex, however this role may be based either in Horsham, or at CA North in Newcastle, UK. This can be discussed upon application.

This is an exciting new project currently in its early prototyping phase, iterating rapidly to create compelling gameplay experiences with a small cross-discipline team.

Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

This role is Hybrid and has a minimum expectation of 1 day every 2 weeks in our Horsham studio. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities 

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Work closely with the gameplay engineering team and designers to design, prototype and implement innovative new gameplay systems
  • Collaborate with your team to plan, estimate and write high-quality performant gameplay code
  • Document and create auto-tests for these systems
  • Debug, diagnose and resolve any problems as they arise
  • Aid in mentoring more junior members of the team in their technical and professional development.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

Essential

  • Extensive professional C++ programming experience
  • Experience in using Unreal Engine 4 or 5 on a AAA title
  • Experience of building gameplay systems
  • Ability to clearly communicate using a variety of methods to enable effective collaboration.

Desirable

  • Development experience on consoles
  • Passionate about games and solving technical problems.
