Principal Environment Artist

Crytek is looking for an amazing Principal Environment Artist to work on Crysis 4 (Working Title).
The ideal candidate has an expert understanding of the creation of stunning in-game art assets and should exhibit creativity, technical and artistic skills. Required to be a self-starter, must be motivated and willing to work without a lot of supervision.  *Sample pictures or a link to a webpage, which shows sample work, are required.*

You have a choice of three location options, allowing you to work with Crytek from anywhere you wish:
1. Come to our modern headquarters in Frankfurt and receive an attractive relocation package and have access to all of our benefits.
2. If you are already living in a European Union member state, we are able to offer you a permanent work contract and allow you to work remotely as an employee from there. 
3. If you are interested in full-time remote work in any other country outside of the European Union, we can offer you a freelance contract arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Use commercial and proprietary software to create high quality art assets to fulfill the necessities of the project’s functional, art and technical specifications;
  • Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine and platform;
  • Take direction in style and technique to match your work to the style of the project;
  • Mentor other artists and help them keep the vision set by the Art Director;
  • Articulate your process to others clearly and use critical feedback to help drive the project's artistic vision to new heights;
  • Estimate your tasks with a high degree of accuracy and break down the steps to completion.
  • Requirements

  • Last and/or current gen console experience;
  • Expert understanding of current game art processes, limitations and dependencies;
  • Strong ability to create believable, realistic environments in a real-time engine;
  • Strong knowledge of 3ds Max or Blender, Photoshop, Substance Designer / Painter and Zbrush;
  • Solid fundamental understanding of artistic principles;
  • Willingness to learn commercial and proprietary software;
  • Solid organizational skills with adherence to asset budgets and management;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Shipped a AAA game as a Senior or Principal Artist.
