Technical Artist

Our client is a NFT/blockchain gaming startup studio which has successfully secured multiple rounds of funding and partnerships. They are now in rapid growth phase and are looking to expand their team. This is an exciting stage to join the company and help shape the future of their games. This role is hybrid remote with 1-2 days per week in their Central London office. They’re looking for a highly motivated Technical Artist to help take their games to the next level. Main responsibilities

  • Identify and develop performant new technologies to realise the vision of the Art Director and to satisfy the requirements of the project. Our client's aim is always to adopt the latest and greatest tech to our advantage.
  • Be responsible for the performance of the game, including frame-rate, memory usage, boot time and size, and advise the team on the best way to build optimal assets.
  • Creation of shaders for Unity URP.
  • Creating a variety of performant particle effects for both environment and UI applications.
  • Aid and/or implementing environment, UI and character animations.
  • Creating Unity editor tools to improve the workflow for the art team.
  • Maintaining a holistic understanding of all aspects of the technical art for a project, including the render pipeline, asset loading/unloading, UI structure and flow, etc.
  • Maintaining asset discipline within the team (making sure naming convention, folder structure, asset size guidelines, etc. are being adhered to


    • Previous experience as a Technical Artist within the games industry
    • Prior experience working on mobile titles
    • Experience using Unity in a professional capacity with a strong understanding of how to get the most out of the engine for mobile platforms
    • C# script writing skills.
    • Experience with 3D packages, preferably Maya.
    • Experience with Photoshop
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Excellent written skills with acute attention to detail
    • High energy and positive team player


    • Experience creating custom editor tools
    • Experience creating performant particle effects for mobile platforms, preferably in Unity
    • Environment animation skills and UI and character animation/rigging skills are desirable

    You are familiar with the latest and greatest tech and techniques and are confident working on a wide variety of challenges. You should be keen to help as the bridge between the artists and coders, being able to work iteratively within the mobile constraints while being up for the challenge of pursuing quality and performance to elevate the mobile gaming experience.
