The Role
The Senior Technical & Economy Designer will work directly with the Design Lead in order to define the game economy & establish the key balancing values for a project with a strong emphasis on peer-to-peer trading. This person will be responsible for the quality of various feature fine-tuning and all high granularity balancing. The candidate will also be expected to work on and understand the code base and therefore be proficient at various scripting languages primarily C#. The senior technical designer will rationalise how their decisions support creative direction as well as be a champion of design across multi-disciplinary technical fields.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in game design, comfortable with fields such as ideation, game flow, player psychology, game feel and documentation as well as strong maths & technical skills. The candidate will be proficient at creating systems with usability and scalability in mind as well as optimisation existing systems. This person really understands how to create addictive game feel by tweaking values and formulas in order to provide satisfying feedback from linear and non-linear reward and progression systems.
Desired Experience
- 5+ years working in the games industry as a technical designer or similar role
- Experience designing economies & gacha systems on at least one shipped title from start to finish
- Ample working experience in Unity
- Strong knowledge of Spreadsheets (Excel and/or Numbers)
- Experience working across multiple platforms (Mobile, Browser games, PC)
Desired Qualities
- Autonomy - Can transform a very high level brief into very detailed system design with little handholding.
- Proactivity - Operates efficiently even when backlog runs out. Identifies tasks and holds responsibility over the field of technical design.
- Creativity - Can provide innovative solutions in order to optimise systems and workflows or enhance user experience
