Video Editor (Contract) - Eurogamer

As part of our continued focus on creating credible and valuable editorial, we are looking for a Video Editor to work on a freelance basis to help deliver video content for Eurogamer, one of our most high profile video teams.

The successful applicant will have a focus on editing video content to support our video team as they generate ideas, scripts and video content on a daily basis that will appeal to our committed and passionate audiences.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Editing and managing video content and assets for the Eurogamer video team. 

  • Helping to create high-quality video in a variety of editorial formats (e.g. how-to, gameplay preview, community streams, etc.) which resonates with our audiences. 

  • Delivering video edits consistent that fits with Eurogamer’s unique tone and voice. 

  • Working to an agreed schedule and producing content on time and to budget, ensuring a balanced schedule that meets the needs of the site’s output. 

  • Video editing, camera operation (where relevant), and producing assets in photoshop and other relevant programs 

  • Publishing via our CMS and other platforms such as YouTube, as required 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Demonstrable video editing skills, with a good understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite.  

  • Knowledge of video games, culture and technology and trends.

  • Ability to help the team generate fresh ideas, and in particular deliver video edits that help us tell stories about games and wider gaming culture.

  • Works well under pressure, able to produce high quality content with a short turnaround to often tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge or experience in the games industry in general is an advantage, but not essential.

  • Able to handle location based shoots (e.g. press trips to capture footage, etc) if needed.

  • Some experience in producing let's play, preview or live stream content, especially in the context of pop culture focused YouTube or Twitch channels.

While we welcome all applications, please include examples of your video work (such as videos on a YouTube channel, perhaps), or any other relevant video material, as this is the main thing we will be looking at to evaluate your application.

This is a contract position for five days a week, that is expected to last for approximately 6 months. We have a Brighton, UK, office where some filming is done - so, while this role can be based remotely from within the UK, you will need to be available to travel there occasionally, or to other locations within the UK, as needed.
