Job Description OPM are excited to be working with one of the world’s leading independent video game developers, known for both original and licensed titles for publication on consoles, handheld devices and mobile platforms using their in-house, cross-platform technology.

Their small studio in Malta is now looking for an experienced lead programmer, reporting to the Technical Director, to drive their current mobile project in development. You will be responsible for leading a team of programmers on future projects from inception to completion, planning and programming the game and liaising with other team leads. It is a hands-on role requiring excellent technical programming skills and knowledge along with leadership and management skills.

Required Skills
  • Extensive professional game development experience
  • Fluent C/C++ programming skills
  • Proven ability to write clear, maintainable, portable code
  • Thorough knowledge of 3D maths and rendering algorithms
  • Experience developing for mobile in addition to other platforms
  • Familiarity with source control systems (Perforce and git)
  • Strong leadership skills, decision making and ability to estimate work complexity and time
  • Ability to work cross-discipline and communicate ideas with non-technical staff
  • Unreal Engine and Unity experience
  • Low level understanding / familiarity with processor architectures
  • Network programming, Physics programming or AI programming experience desirable
  • Experience with other programming languages including C++11, C# and Java advantageous
  • Knowledge of common graphics APIs (OpenGL/ES, Metal, Vulkan, DirectX) and shader languages is a bonus
  • Passion for developing and playing games is a must
