Job Description Rocketwerkz is looking for a talented and driven designer to join our team on an as yet unannounced first person shooter title.

This position involves helping to establish and execute on a core design philosophy pertaining to maps, combat design and progression systems. Ideally, the candidate has a strong background in first person shooter design, the ability to rapidly iterate on existing work, and the ability to collaborate with a wider team to explore implementing new content. 

Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to find creative solutions to design challenges
  • Strong organizational skills (Experience with project tracking systems a plus)
  • Experience with popular game engines (UE4/Unity) and a familiarity with the map design process, both in blockout and iteration stages.
  • A deep understanding of first person shooter gameplay, be it the implications of weapons, enemies or map design and how they interact with one another.
  • Extremely detail oriented, comfortable with testing own work before putting it forward to the team at large

Pluses
  • An in-depth understanding of Unreal Engine 4’s blueprint systems
  • Shipped first person shooter titles on PC or console
  • Professional experience as a game or level designer

The position is full time, permanent, onsite. Support is given for relocation and visa.
About the studio
Dunedin, New Zealand-based RocketWerkz began in 2015. The independent game development studio was founded by Dean Hall and employees staff from all levels of industry experience across multiple projects. In 2016 internet giant Tencent invested in the Studio. The focus of the studio is as a creative factory – developing PC games, new genres and cooperative multiplayer experiences.
