Job Overview:

SKC Games Studio is seeking an Art Director to lead the art team in the development of a new sci-fi openworld game project. As the Art Director, you will be responsible for creating and driving the visual style and aesthetic of the game, overseeing all aspects of the art production pipeline and ensuring that the creative vision is executed to the highest standards.


  • Establish and maintain the visual style, tone and direction of the game, in collaboration with the Creative Director and the rest of the development team.
  • Coordinate with the game design, level design and narrative teams to ensure that the visual style enhances and reinforces the overall vision of the game.
  • Develop and oversee the creation of concept art, character designs, environment designs, animation, and visual effects that align with the game’s visual style.
  • Create and maintain documentation and style guides to ensure a consistent visual style throughout the game.
  • Work with external art vendors, outsourcing companies, and freelancers as needed to supplement your internal art team.
  • Manage the art team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources to deliver high quality artwork on time and on budget.
  • Participate in recruiting and hiring new team members as needed.


What we are looking for:

  • Strong creative vision with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, visually striking products within the games industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in the games industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in art production software (e.g. Photoshop, Maya, ZBrush, etc) and a deep understanding of industry best practices.
  • Passion for and experience with sci-fi, open-world games or other relevant genres.
  • A thorough understanding of both traditional and digital art techniques, as well as motion graphics and animation.
  • A Bachelor's degree in art or design-related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Desired but non-essential:

  • Experience with ShotGrid
