Associate Development Manager

Creative Assembly is looking for an Associate Development Manager to join our talented production team on our Total War franchise. This role will be based at our headquarters in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.

The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day, and week to week process of managing a cross discipline game team. Reporting to the Development Director, the Associate Development Manager will be able to provide support to keep the project moving forward, and the team positive, informed, and focused whilst keeping momentum. The role will also require working with the project leads to generate the project schedule, identify dependencies, solve problems, and prioritise work.

Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

This role is Hybrid and has an expectation of a minimum of 2 days per week in our Horsham studio. 

Key Responsibilities

As an Associate Development Manager, you will be assisting in the smooth development of our upcoming Total War projects.
 
On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Book and facilitate meetings and own the agile processes for your team 
  • Keep track of the current quality of the game and where certain deliverables / bugs are
  • Highlight and track project risks
  • Cover and support the projects Development Managers and Development Director 
  • Help chase down any blockers for the team / project  
  • Plan, and execute the short, and long-term schedules and reporting to ensure efficient, reliable, and accurate delivery  
  • Track and manage these schedules, adjust them for upcoming releases, deadlines. 

 

Knowledge, Skill and Experience 

Essential

  •  A demonstrable understanding of Agile Software development methodology and its strengths and weaknesses
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. You will be aware of potential and current issues and offer practical and realistic plans to resolve them 
  • Able to identify and assess risks and communicate ways to mitigate them  
  • A team thinker - able to support and work within a team and enable the team to perform in a united way  
  • Excellent organisational skills  
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal  
  • Focused and self-motivated  
  • Always looking for ways to improve our process, team or project  
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using MS Office applications, especially Excel  
  • Enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for games. 

 

Desirable

  • Prior experience in scheduling, tracking and reporting the work of a team and/or experience in project management in games or software 
  • Experience with Agile and other methodologies 
  • Relevant experience working with multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Knowledge of the Total War Franchise 
  • Experience successfully managing teams working across different geographic locations 
  • Experience with Jira / Confluence / Miro
