Business Controller

We are currently looking for a driven and analytical Business Controller with a business oriented mindset, passion for gaming and technology, to work closely with and support our business units and game development projects on financial matters within Avalanche Studios Group. You will be responsible for providing key financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting to enable data driven and informed business decisions. You will be part of a Finance team and report to our Business Controller Manager.

As a Business Controller at Avalanche Studios Group, you will be given the responsibility of some of our projects and cost centers, and be the go-to person for financial planning, follow-up and analysis. You will also be working with continuous improvements of our processes, tools and ways of working to help secure a sustainable and solid Business Controlling function. If you are analytical and have a strong business sense, coupled with a prestige-less and open mindset, this is definitely the role for you. In this role, you’ll be able to take initiative, shape the way we work, and of course work close to our amazing games!

What you'll do:

  • Work with profitability analysis of business units, development projects and live services

  • Have responsibility for financial planning, monthly follow-up and reporting

  • Proactively support business units, development projects, live services and other stakeholders in how to interpret results, challenge actions and areas in order to reach financial targets

  • Monitor and analyze KPIs and provide insight and direction to drive profitability and productivity

  • Collaborate with our Data Insights and Product teams on producing relevant reports based on daily sales information

  • Develop dashboards using our internal tools to expose relevant data points to stakeholders and management of the company

  • Support financial controllers in closing, group reporting and audit processes

  • Perform ad hoc analysis, business cases and evaluating new business opportunities and partnerships

  • Investigate, identify areas of improvement in our processes, simplification and optimisation opportunities, automation potential

Who you are:

  • Have an academic degree in finance/accounting or other relevant fields

  • 3+ years of experience working with business controlling, preferably in game development industry

  • Feel comfortable working with large amounts of data, able to summarize it in a comprehensive and concise manner. Experience in SQL is a merit

  • Possess presentation and communication skills to help you deliver content to the company management and your stakeholders in the financial reviews or forecast/budget process

  • Able to handle certain stress level during short periods of time when the timeline requires it such as monthly financial closing, forecast and budget cycles

  • Team player, like to socialize, easy to communicate with and build working relationships

  • Not afraid and confident in speaking out when needed

  • Have a genuine interest in games and see AI tools as an area of improvement for the company and you as an individual

  • Fluent in English (official internal communication language), preferably also in Swedish

The Stockholm location
Our Stockholm office is situated in Södermalm, the beating heart of the city’s game industry. It’s a physical representation of our games – the lush vegetation of Just Cause and theHunter: Call of the Wild meets corroded metal straight out of Mad Max. Our hybrid model requires you to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to foster collaboration and creativity.
