Design Director – Remote, Hybrid, Northwest, UK – Co-Development Console & PC Games

One Player Missions client is looking for a Design Director to join their expanding Design Team. They have delivered co-development video game services to global triple-A clients.

The successful candidate will provide clear direction and guidance across all design development, drive the vision forward by working with the design team, oversee various design disciplines, and actively participate in project pitches and client meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:

• An impeccable eye for aesthetic quality and detail with an impressive art portfolio.
• High proficiency in Unreal Engines current version.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate abstract ideas and provide feedback.
• Understanding of essential design principles; player psychology, game balance, etc.
• Ability to supervise and guide design work, with established game design leadership experience.
• Familiarity with up-to-date game development technical processes.
• Good leadership skills and a collaborative team mindset.
• Positive and professional attitude with excellent time-management and organisational skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide clear, concise direction and guidance across all design development.
• Create inspiring design guides and ensure creative cohesion.
• Work alongside the design team to drive the vision forward.
• Look for opportunities to innovate and improve design quality.
• Engage in planning of project pitches and client meetings.
• Mentor and guide designers, championing design psychology.
• Oversee various design disciplines like systems, levels, and blueprints.
