External Communications Lead

We need a senior External Communications Lead who loves games as much as we do. As a strategic storyteller, you’ll be the voice of our studio and our portfolio, building global brands and narratives that stick. In this role, you will play a key part in elevating the Avalanche Studios Group brand and our diverse product portfolio. Reporting to our Chief Publishing Officer, you will shape our voice in the global gaming landscape and lead our external communications strategy from vision to execution.

 

The Position

This role is a unique opportunity to lead our external communications strategy, combining high-level brand building with hands-on execution. You will ensure a cohesive and powerful message across all channels, acting as a guardian of our reputation and a driving force behind our global media presence.

What you'll do

  • Own and execute the overarching external communications strategy and annual calendar for all company and product brands.
  • Spearhead PR and communication efforts for our entire product portfolio, providing strategic direction to agencies and managing key channels.
  • Cultivate a robust global network of media contacts, acting as the primary point of contact for external inquiries and announcements.
  • Ensure a consistent brand voice across all platforms by creating high-quality content and copywriting for key initiatives, and translating the studio’s strategy and brand into clear guidelines, templates, and boilerplates for consistent external communication.
  • Develop and implement content frameworks for owned channels (web, social, blog) and maintain our digital press room.
  • Proactively manage our reputation by developing and maintaining robust crisis communication plans.
  • Establish a KPI framework to track performance, analyzing media coverage to identify new opportunities and trends.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing and community teams, and provide media training for our internal spokespeople.

Who you are

  • You bring extensive communications experience from the games industry, ideally from an international publisher, with a deep passion for gaming.
  • You have a proven ability to craft long-term strategies while remaining agile enough to handle tactical execution and complex launches.
  • You are an exceptional writer and editor who can turn complex information into engaging stories for a global audience.
  • You have an established network of media contacts and a track record of successful outreach and pitching.
  • You use data and insights to inform your decisions, measure success, and drive continuous improvement.
  • You are comfortable representing the company at industry events and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
