We are a global company with the resources to match, coupled with a place where everyone knows each other on a first-name basis, working together to create innovative experiences, one community at a time. As Group Head of Sustainability & ESG you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability strategies and programs across SEGA Europe (SOE) with the aim of minimising our environmental impact, growing our businesses sustainably, and inspiring others to take action. Reporting directly to The General Counsel and Chief People Officer, you will be impactful in the development of our social and governance objectives, working closely with senior management across our Finance, Legal, HR and Facilities teams to execute the SOE group's approach across existing and emerging global ESG requirements, both voluntary and mandatory. We believe that delivering the best games relies on having the best people, so we are constantly investing in our people through our benefits package, flexible working, and our community-focused, people-centric culture. Essentially, you have a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, industry opportunities, and challenges related to ESG. Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the SOE’s values, goals, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborates with various departments at SOE, our Sustainability Division of our parent company in Japan, and SOE development studios to set business-specific goals, strategies, and policies in support of the company’s regional sustainability goals, fostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibility.
  • Develops and executes a plan for collecting, storing, validating, and distributing ESG and sustainability data and content for reporting and stakeholder requests. 
  • Reviews and analyses corporate activities and provides recommendations related to enhancing sustainability strategy, methods, framework, and related tools.
  • Acts as an environmental steward, leading efforts to reduce SOE’s environmental footprint, including energy efficiency, waste and recycling, emissions, and sustainable sourcing.
  • Advises the business on changes to the worldwide sustainability standards, directives, legislation, and regulations. 
  • Leads the project for preparing sustainability reports for Sega Europe and developing the process and best practices relating to it, communicating progress, achievements, and challenges to internal stakeholders. 
  • Supports and manages project delivery, providing guidance and direction to relevant teams to help achieve project goals relating to energy and sustainability projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Direct experience in implementing and executing ESG reporting programs in a corporate environment.
  • Significant corporate experience in an environmental management/sustainability-focused management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainable business, environmental management, or accumulated relevant corporate experience.
  • Robust knowledge of sustainability-related practices, industry trends and best practices and applicable laws and regulations including CSRD, CSDDD and GRI.
  • Ability to think pragmatically about improving sustainability practices and skilled in developing cost/benefit analysis of the impact of corporate sustainability decisions.
  • Experience in key relevant environmental issues as they relate to corporate operations (i.e., energy management/efficiency, waste reduction, green real estate), supply chain sustainability strategies and employee engagement. Knowledge of science-based targets, GHG Framework and environmental sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to translate technical topics into terms that are meaningful to more general audiences.
  • Detail oriented self-starter who can influence across functions and diverse stakeholder groups. Requires practical hands-on attitude and willingness to develop best practices, processes and analyse and improve reporting tools.
  • Positive and solution-oriented attitude and the ability to work both in a matrix and independently.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
