Junior People Advisor

The Role 
 
This role will work alongside the People Partnering team to ensure we are providing an effective and efficient Studio-wide HR Service to CA, across all Projects and Corporate Services functions.  You will provide support to the People Partnering team in equipping people managers with the appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their teams in line with their people plans.    
 
You will be a key point of contact for employees (current and new) and will establish an effective process for managing employee queries and triaging them to the relevant People Partner.   
 
You will also ensure that a professional, customer focused, proactive and flexible HR service is delivered to the studio.  
 
This role may be well suited to an individual experienced within a generalist HR role, ideally at a Senior Administrative or Coordinator level looking to take their first step into an HR Advisory position. It is available on a hybrid basis with two days per week (minimum) working in our Horsham studio. 
 
 
What you’ll be doing 
 
On a day-to-day basis, you will: 
 
HR Administration  

  • Be a key point of contact for employees and assist with basic transactional enquiries relating to, but not limited to, working from abroad requests, flexible working requests, policy queries and requests for information. 
  • Take ownership of the employee onboarding process, including delivery of the HR induction, new starter e mails, liaising with the employee’s Lead, IT and organising merch packs.
  • Support with administrative changes - initiation of all lifecycle requests via our HR system, Workday (salary changes, creation of job title changes, reporting line changes, parental leave, sick leave, TOIL etc.)   and running reports.
  • Manage all family absences (e.g. maternity leave, paternity leave) in line with Statutory requirements and Company policy, escalating to the relevant People Partner where necessary.
  • Work with the People Partners to update policies as and when necessary, in line with legislative changes. 
  • Assist with monthly payroll administration.  
  • Organisation of onsite health screening sessions and annual flu vaccinations onsite and vaccination vouchers. 
  • Supporting with the administration of the offboarding processes.
  • General administration tasks such as new baby hampers, and invoice payments. 

Employee Relations 

  • Supported by the People Partners, provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on matters relating to people policies, procedures, and employment legislation as required. 
  • Supported by the People Partners, participate and advise on basic level employee relations issues to include disciplinary, grievance, capability processes, performance reviews, probationary terminations, absence management meetings and occupational health referrals.   
  • Take the lead on the probationary review process, ensuring that all probationary reviews are completed on time and to an acceptable standard, chasing outstanding reviews and escalating to the People Partners as required.  Following up on any actions identified from the reviews – for example liaising with L&D on training requests.  
  • Attend regular meetings with the People Partners and Discipline Directors to support and guide with people issues relating to their team. 
  • Conduct investigations into informal employee complaints and recommend appropriate actions to resolve issues.  

 

Learning & Development  

  • Together with the People Partnering Team, deliver Lead Toolkit sessions, where appropriate, to enhance the skills and knowledge of our Leads. 

 
Other 

  • Assist with project work/improvements that contribute to the overall People Strategy as well as project specific People Strategies.  
  • Manage employee requests for work experience placements. 
  • Stay updated on HR best practices and legal requirements to provide effective HR solutions.  
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the People Partnering and wider group HR teams as required.

What we are looking for Essential   

  • Proven experience within a generalist HR role, ideally at a Senior Administrative or Coordinator level. 
  • Ability to work at pace in a changing environment. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 
  • Able to think objectively, prioritise workloads and proactively solve problems with strong planning and organisation skills.
  • Able to demonstrate good HR practice.
  • An understanding and knowledge of employment law and employment practices.
  • Effective and confident communication skills (both orally and in writing). 
  • Able to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in all aspects of work and be a trusted and professional ambassador for HR.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and positive approach. 

 
Desirable   

  • CIPD (or equivalent) qualified, or part qualified to level 3. 
  • Experience of working with the Workday HR system. 
  • Experience of working in a creative digital industry.
