Lead Designer
Junkfish Ltd is looking for a Lead Designer to join our development team. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a friendly, diverse and dynamic team. Working under the supervision of our Creative Director, you will help Junkfish realise its creative vision by shaping the core design elements of our projects.
Our ideal leader is a dynamic designer with experience within all core design tenets. Starting at inception, going through the core game loop, and building progressions, you will help Junkfish find the core fun of any project. Alongside a high standard of design, we expect candidates to have developed professional maturity in team leadership - understanding how to set boundaries, coach, mentor, enable, and champion a talent team to find quality and productive output.

Responsibilities
- Clearly communicate the game’s design to the project team.
- Establish and define design pipelines.
- Help the design team reach their full potential through review and guidance.
- Create and take ownership of the design documentation.
- Transform high-level feature designs into detailed briefs.
- Help with any gaps within the design pipeline.
- Work closely with the project team to create and define design tasks to help steer the vision of the project.
- Help in the recruiting process and point out areas where we’re needing additional expertise.
- Acquire and analyse feedback from the QA process.
- Collaborate with the wider team to define and advance the project design.
- Work with the producer to identify key issues from the design perspective and assist in the planning process.
Skills & Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in the games industry as a designer
- Must have shipped at least one title on PC or console platforms at a senior or leadership level.
- Must have exceptional understanding of design processes and pipelines.
- Expert knowledge of game design and how to communicate ideas.
- Overall broad knowledge of all elements of game design production, such as level design, UX, game economy, and system design.
- Demonstrable experience of leading and developing other designers.
- Exceptional leadership, planning, and time management skills.
- Understand how to build healthy and successful cross-department relationship
Desirable
- Past experience on a horror game title.
- Been active in a scrum environment.

Additional Information
Lead Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
