Lead Environment Artist

We are seeking a talented Lead Environment Artist to join our dynamic Development team at Avalanche Studios Group in Stockholm or Malmö. In this role, you'll act as a vital link between our Art Director and our team of artists, with a focus on environment art, ensuring the artistic vision is effectively translated into outstanding visual content. What you'll do

  • Lead and inspire a team of talented artists, clearly communicating and implementing the artistic vision to deliver exceptional quality visuals.
  • Oversee visual asset creation, ensuring artwork meets productivity, delivery, and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, developers, and other stakeholders to resolve bottlenecks, enhance productivity, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Occasionally participate hands-on in asset creation, providing artistic expertise to refine and elevate our visuals.

People Management

  • Support your direct reports throughout their entire employee journey, from hiring and onboarding to performance evaluations and career growth.
  • Actively engage in team members’ professional development, providing constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities such as approving time reports, leave requests, and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Serve as a company representative regarding organizational, cultural, and legal responsibilities, ensuring compliance with workplace environment standards, employee privacy, and working conditions.

Who you are

  • You have extensive experience within game development, specifically within Art departments, with a focus on environment art, and are eager to expand your expertise further.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of managing processes effectively and collaboratively across diverse teams.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, focused on continuous improvement and adaptation of industry best practices.
