Lead VFX Artist

The role

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced Lead VFX Artist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating and leading the development of real-time visual effects using Unreal Engine. Reporting into the Art Manager, you will oversee the VFX team, guide the artistic vision, and ensure the delivery of high-quality visual effects that enhance the overall gameplay experience efficiently and time.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Lead and mentor the VFX team, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of artistic quality and technical performance.
  • VFX Creation: Design, create, and implement high-quality VFX assets in Unreal Engine for our AAA titles.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the art, design, and engineering teams to ensure VFX integrate seamlessly into the game.
  • Optimization: Optimize VFX assets to maintain performance without compromising visual quality.
  • Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and techniques to continuously improve our VFX pipeline.
  • Creative Direction:
    Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the visual impact of our games.
  • Project Planning: Assist in the planning and scheduling of VFX tasks and milestones, ensuring alignment with project timelines and goals.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for VFX processes, tools, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency within the team

    Requirements

    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a VFX artist in the video game industry, with at least 2 years in a lead role.
    • Unreal Engine: Proven expertise in creating real-time VFX using Unreal Engine.
    • Technical Skills: Proficient in relevant software such as Houdini, Maya and Photoshop.
    • Creative Mindset: Strong artistic vision and creativity with a keen eye for detail.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges related to VFX.
    • Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
    • Leadership: Proven leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and guiding a team.
    • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of real-time VFX work.
