Amazon Games is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and creative Public Relations professional to join our team and help drive storytelling for our products and services, leadership communications, and partnership promotions for the Games group.
You will join at an exciting time for Amazon Games. New World, our internally developed open-world MMO that pits players against the haunted wilderness of Aeternum, topped Steam and Twitch charts at launch, drawing millions of players worldwide. Lost Ark, a massively multiplayer action RPG developed by Smilegate RPG and published by Amazon Games in the West, launched in February 2022 and quickly became the second most-played game ever on Steam, garnering over 10 million new players within the first month. Prime Gaming, the Amazon Prime benefit offering members free, in-game content for their favorite games, free games every month, and a monthly Twitch subscription, continues to expand its offerings, and is now one of the fastest growing parts of Prime.
You will be responsible for developing cohesive storylines that support core pieces of the Games business across Prime Gaming, Crown Channel and Game Growth, managing and developing relationships with external partners and supporting those efforts with integrated communications programs including targeted work with top-tier press, thought leadership campaigns, and creative and compelling use of owned channels.
The role requires a high-judgment, self-motivated, well-connected, and creative communications professional. You will have the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving, dynamic organization, and a track record of generating results. You will excel at both developing winning communications strategies and executing tactical plans with precision. Excellent writing skills are imperative for this role. You must think and communicate clearly, and be able to formulate a clear viewpoint on complicated issues, creating a concise and well-written narrative to support their perspective. This is a highly visible role requiring frequent engagement with senior leadership and partners, and you must be comfortable interacting with both internal and external executives and cross-functional teams.
This role can be based in Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; or Los Angeles, CA.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• 7+ years of professional PR experience either in-house or at an agency
• Experience managing current media relationships
• Experience with crisis management and issues management
• Superior verbal and written communications skills
• Passion for the games industry
• Excellent understanding of the relevant media environment and current business landscape
• Good experience pitching feature stories to games, technology, and business publications
• Reliable judgment and the ability to respond quickly, yet thoughtfully, to urgent matters
• Demonstrated ability to earn trust, a knack for diplomacy and the confidence to engage and build consensus with functional leaders at all levels, across teams
• Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to work hard and roll up sleeves to get work done, even when at times it is outside the scope of the job
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
