We have an incredible opportunity on our QA Team, to be part of something extraordinary, helping us craft the Total War franchise. As QA Engineer, you will assist the core teams in perfecting a player experience worthy of one of the best games in the genre, by locating design and tech flaws and pinpointing potential bugs, while communicating effectively with a variety of specialist in various fields.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a QA Engineer you are responsible for designing and implementing test plans, identify areas that require additional debugging or tool support and using automation to achieve efficient and comprehensive test coverage of a product or feature from conception to post release. You will be expected to be able to identify which test plans would benefit from automation and use the automation frameworks provided by the automation team to create automated test cases. You will champion quality within the wider development team and encourage quality at all stages of development through the principals of shift left testing. On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Facilitate the discussion of quality and encourage QA best practices
- Identify areas for early testing that will save on test or dev effort later
- Identify features that require additional scripts, debugging or automation
- Either create or request additional test tools from feature owners that increase test efficiency
- Create testplans that help test against player value and assess quality
- Assess which test cases would benefit from automation on a time saved from manual testing vs time spent automating test cases basis
- Use in house automated frameworks and basic scripting to automate testcases
- Maintain existing automated testcases within the automation frameworks and document new automation you create
- Contribute to discussions and knowledge sharing around automation and improving test quality
- Assist QA Managers with compiling and prioritising the automation backlog
- Collaborate with a wider team of developers and test engineers
Knowledge, Skill and ExperienceEssential
- Significant experience working in QA in a development studio
- Experience of the development process from production to post release
- Understanding of automation and where it is best applied
- Experience with PASTA or similar automation frameworks
- Experience working in waterfall and agile development methodologies
- A desire to champion QA best practices at every stage of development
- Able to understand and assist with testing solutions for technical development practices such as continuous integration and automated testing
Desirable
- Competent in a programming language such as C# or basic scripting capabilities
- Knowledgeable on shift left test principals
- Ability to work autonomously to discern tasks and take a proactive approach to their area of responsibility
