Graphics programmers are dedicated to ensuring the game looks as good as it possibly can. They want fire to look like fire, water to look like water and skin to look like skin. This means making the graphics as detailed as possible without impacting on the speed and playability of the game.  The job is all about maths, rendering and optimisation.  We are looking for a Principal C++ Graphics Programmer to work on our latest title. This role is offered fully remote or onsite with our studio based in the South East, England.

What will you do?

  • Driving for the highest image quality possible for each scene using a best in practice
  • Applying a deep understanding of rendering techniques and systems to meet the requirements of the game, extend the feature set and suggest new approaches
  • Working with other disciplines to achieve the highest quality visuals
  • Being involved at any stage of asset production from specification to platform-specific

What skills do you need?

  • Solid C++ - you’ve worked with C++ for 7+ years and have contributed to 1+ shipped games on PC, console or mobile
  • Excellent graphics – you are passionate about the latest rendering techniques and achieving the highest possible graphical quality in-game, and understand cutting-edge renderer and pipelines
  • Strong 3D Maths – you have a broad knowledge of the theory and practical application of 3D maths in games
  • Practical - you’re able to provide solutions that are efficient and easy to use for content creators, and take into account the needs of the game. You are able to prototype new ideas rapidly to help determine the best way to achieve the vision
  • Good communicator - you can talk about your work. You’ll be as comfortable specifying a task with artists and collaborating on a shared codebase with engineers as you are taking feedback from other disciplines
  • Low-level code knowledge incl. CPU & GPU. Proven ability to dig down into code systems and profile, write, optimise or debug them.
  • Shader knowledge. Vulcan, OpenGL/GLSL
  • University degree in Computer Science or related
  • Mentoring and training skills
