Senior Lighting Artist |Fixed Term]

Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Senior Lighting artist to join our team and play an integral part in crafting our upcoming game!As a Senior Lighting Artist, you will have a significant impact on the game visuals while working alongside skilled and passionate industry professionals. You are tasked with developing lighting propositions in cooperation with the art director, and you will oversee the realization of these plans to shape the game's atmosphere. In addition, you will be expected to drive the quality benchmark for your discipline while managing your time to match the project’s goals.

To be considered for the position, you need a portfolio demonstrating your artistic abilities and examples of previous work.

What you'll do

  • Create and implement real-time dynamic lighting in an open-world environment. Such as tweaking daycycles and local lighting for both interiors, exteriors, and biomes - taking into account time of day, cutscenes etc.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and drive best practices for the art pipeline and tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Lead Artist and other disciplines such as Rendering programmers, Technical Artists, Environment artists and VFX artists, to achieve the visual goals of the project.
  • Maintain a high visual quality bar for lighting within performance budgets for different platforms.
  • Come up with creative ideas and innovative solutions to achieve the project vision. 
  • Provide mentorship and feedback, and act as a point of resource to guide less experienced colleagues.

Who you are

  • In-depth experience as a Lighting Artist or similar role in the games industry, with advanced knowledge in real-time lighting techniques.
  • A deep understanding of color, light, and material authoring in a physically based rendering pipeline and color correction.
  • Proficient in 3rd party software such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, both technical and creative.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage your own time and tasks, set realistic goals, and meet deadlines.
  • Receptive to feedback and adapts to necessary changes.
  • Up-to-date with the latest industry trends and techniques.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills in English.

The Stockholm location
Our Stockholm office is situated in Södermalm, the beating heart of the city’s game industry. It’s a physical representation of our games – the lush vegetation of Just Cause and theHunter: Call of the Wild meets corroded metal straight out of Mad Max. Our hybrid model requires you to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to foster collaboration and creativity.
