Role Introduction
We are building a shiny, new, ambitious game and would love to find an experienced producer with proven skills in leading medium-sized game teams making high-budget, cross-platform games to guide us on this incredible journey. This is a senior role so we're expecting you to come fully-equipped to run things with little oversight.
If building games like our first title, Wylde Flowers excites you and you can bring your experience and love of inspiring and nurturing teams in remote environments all over the world, then this is the position for you!
What you'll be doing
-
Owning, creating and executing the production plan to achieve the launch date and all required milestones along the way.
-
Building relationships, processes and pipelines with external partners to achieve high volumes of outsourced work such as art, localization, voice-over, sound and QA.
-
Balancing team size, outsourcing opportunities and game needs to find the most efficient way to achieve game milestones without bloating the team and with the best possible game quality.
-
Noticing problems as they arise during production, identifying root causes and executing efficient solutions to keep the team running smoothly and harmoniously.
-
Owning the daily management of the team to ensure everyone understands goals, feels connected and can contribute despite the challenges of time zones and remote work.
-
Working with the Creative Director to understand and manage scope vs vision and business goals.
Our dream Senior Producer
-
A lateral thinker. We do things a little differently at Studio Drydock, so we'll be looking for people who are able to adapt their previous experiences to work with our team, culture and asynchronous work-style.
-
Independent: they're able to find problems and figure out solutions no one else can see.
-
Deep understanding of game development:
-
They're familiar with all the disciplines and the kinds of work they do.
-
They're able to follow along with highly domain-specific conversations enough to know next steps or follow up on them later.
-
An understanding of shipping games on multiple platforms in order to preempt pitfalls on the path to launch through finalling and certification.
-
-
Kind and supportive: They strike the balance between providing direct feedback and instruction that leaves a team knowing where to go, but always knowing how valued they are.
-
Results-driven. They see production as a very hands-on job to make the game happen on time and on budget with a happy team. They're constantly looking for ways to have a positive impact on that outcome.
-
Indie-minded: Comfortable with the small-team need to hop into recruitment, grant applications and other random project needs as they arise, even when it might be a new skill.
This is a full time, permanent and permanently-remote-working position
-
This position is 38 hours a week
-
Work around your family and personal commitments.
-
Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.
-
We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.
-
-
You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.
-
We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.
Salary
-
This is a full-time permanent position with 3 months probation.
-
$120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) annual base salary plus benefits.
