We are looking for two Senior UI Designers for our soon to be released AAA project Exoborne - an open-world extraction shooter. As senior members of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with designers, directors, UX experts and engineers to create user interfaces that are both visually engaging and highly functional. Your work will help ensure the UI is consistent, accessible, and fully aligned with the overall vision of the game.
You’ll take responsibility for key UI systems and workflows, working together with the team to establish best practices and maintain a high standard of quality throughout the project. By sharing your expertise and contributing ideas, you’ll help the whole team deliver a polished and immersive player experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Directors, Game Designers, Programmers, and fellow team members to create polished and intuitive user interfaces that enhance gameplay and integrate seamlessly into the game world.
- Drive the creation and evolution of the game’s UI ensuring cohesive visual style and design language for all UI elements, aligning with the overall artistic vision of the game.
- Mentor and support junior/intermediate UI designers, offering feedback, guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain and evolve the existing design library. Ensure design files are well-structured, organized, and consistently delivered.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design techniques to continuously improve the quality and innovation of our UI designs.
- Incorporate motion graphics and animations into the user interface to enhance interactivity and provide visual feedback to players. Create engaging transitions, animations, and dynamic elements that elevate the overall user experience.
- Collaborate with the broader team to ensure that all UI designs are intuitive, accessible, and enhance the overall user experience. While UX is a shared responsibility across the company, you will work closely with our UX experts to refine and elevate design decisions.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, ideally with experience from AAA game development or equivalent.
- Exceptional graphic design skills, with a solid understanding of typography, colour theory, and composition.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
- Demonstrated experience with interactive and motion design.
- A strong understanding of game development pipelines and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience designing for multi-platform games (PC, console), with knowledge of platform-specific UX expectations and constraints.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to both give and receive constructive feedback and the ability to communicate your design concepts and ideas to both internal teams and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the project.
- A passion for gaming, with a deep appreciation for how UI/UX design impacts player engagement and immersion.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- An up-to-date portfolio showcasing a range of UI designs, including high-quality UI elements.
That little extra
- Experience with UI implementation in Unreal Engine (UMG, Blueprints, etc.).
- Skills in 3D modelling, rendering, or lighting to support in-world UI or 3D interfaces.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices in games.
- Experience conducting or analysing usability testing.
