The roleAs a Senior World Designer you’ll be responsible for realising a part of the game world by designing, building and iterating on all its various layers through several stages. You will be collaborating closely with Art, Narrative and other Design disciplines such as Mission, Level and Game Design to ensure that the open world experience comes together.
[Please note that this is a fixed term employment, with end date being March 31st 2027]
What you'll do
- Own a large subset of the world and be responsible for the overall design of the environment and implementation of simpler activities in it.
- Typical tasks include; planning regions, terrain editing, roads, waterways, placement and distribution of POI’s and landmarks, creating spaces and paths through them according to specified gameplay metrics.
- Work closely with Lead, Product Owner and other teams to understand the game and its needs, constraints, and intentions to design adapted solutions to realize the project's vision.
- Help identify problems and improve workflows both with the toolset and content pipeline/production (i.e. structure/building prefabs, asset collections, layout templates etc.)
Who you are
- You have a breadth of expertise in the World Design discipline and its many practical aspects such as: flow of large scale spaces, terrain editing, biomes, landmarks, locations, roads, and rivers as well as an understanding of how to best represent lore, pertinent story beats and important parts of world building in that work.
- You are a self motivated developer that enjoys ownership and are not afraid to wear several hats
- You have a keen eye for composition, visual aesthetics and distribution. Both in terms of layouts of environments and how different layers of gameplay work together in harmony.
- You’re someone with previous experience as a World Designer (or equivalent) in the game industry, ideally having worked on an open-world title.
- You have great understanding of dependencies and associated workflows of other departments
