Technical Artist (UK only, Remote/Hybrid/Brighton)

We’re FuturLab, the award-winning game studio behind PowerWash Simulator, the Velocity series, Peaky Blinders and many more amazing games.

We're looking for a Techincal Artist to join the exciting world of PowerWash Simulator! As a Tech Artist in our friendly and collaborative team, you'll be working closely with the rest of the Art Team to deliver beautiful looking and performant art across a variety of platforms. Along with our programmers you will help solve complex technical issues, develop and support art pipelines, and ensure the project’s artistic vision is achieved by developing appropriate technical solutions. As a member of our team, you are expected to be proactive, follow standards and best practices, as well as promote them and mentor less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Art Leads to deliver artistic vision within the project requirements
  • Be the bridge between art and programming and collaborate effectively with both
  • Drive art optimisation efforts by informing best decisions and ensuring content meets visual fidelity targets on a wide range of platforms
  • Regularly communicate technical constraints and their reasons to the art team

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the games industry
  • Strong C# and HLSL/GLSL knowledge
  • Experience profiling CPU, GPU and memory usage
  • Ability to create performant shaders + VFX systems from art briefs

Desirable:

  • Experience optimising for lower-end hardware
  • Familiar with Unity workflows: prefabs, particle systems, asset management
  • Proficient with VFX/Shader Graph (graph creation and custom tooling)
  • 3D Modelling knowledge
  • Deep understanding of Unity's Scriptable Render Pipeline (URP/HDRP)
  • Compute shader knowledge
