VFX Artist to work on a console sci-fi shooter creating weapon and environmental fx.
This studio is are widely considered to be one of the most exciting and innovative developers in the UK. They’re about to begin work on their next game, a sci-fi shooter for consoles based on a hugely popular movie franchise.
Responsibilities
Creation and implementation of real-time effects using After Effects or similar software
Use of real-time engines such as Unity
Prototyping effects quickly in order to communicate ideas to the Art Director and other Senior Artists
Discussion about, and understanding of, the limitations of the hardware while innovating and pushing the quality of the effects
Working closely with environment artists, animators, designers, and engineers to produce an immersive game experience
Collaboration with other FX Artists to share techniques, assets and ideas
Provision of ideas and creative solutions to your brief and day to day tasks
Be an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews.
Required
Familiar with at least one industry standard game engine
Familiar with at least one industry standard 3D modeling package
Good knowledge of After Effects or equivalent software
Strong Photoshop skills
Able to create special FX textures from scratch
Understanding of, and experience working within, technical restraints and budgets
Ability to communicate cross-discipline and work closely in small teams
A good understanding of physical behavior and motion in the creation of VFX
Experience creating visual effects for video games, compliant with game design and overall artistic vision
A great team player with a mind for games and a keen artistic eye
Preferred
An understanding of node based shader creation
Scripting Experience (preferably in 3DS Max)
Experience with Unity
Proficient in creation of particle systems / effects such as fluids and smoke inside a 3D package, (preferably 3Ds Max or Maya).
This role can be based in their North East based studio or fully remote, UK only. Salary to £35k plus benefits
