
Senior Video Editor & Motion Graphics Designer (Horsham, Sussex, UK)
Portal Studio, a rapidly growing marketing and creative agency specialising in the games industry, has a vacancy for a games-loving Senior Video Editor & Motion Graphic Designer.
This is a rare opportunity to join a close-knit, highly collaborative team working on high profile projects with some of the world’s most recognisable publishers and developers.
Working alongside our Creative Director, you’ll be responsible for producing beautifully engaging videos and trailers that bring our award-winning clients’ games to the attention of a global gaming community.
Salary
£40,000 - £60,000 depending on experience + Pension + Company Bonus Scheme

Requirements / experience
We’re looking for an exceptional Video Editor & Motion Graphics Designer with 4-6 years of experience in a similar role. You’re a creative producer who loves to tell captivating stories through mixed-media videos and motion graphics.
Creating true mixed-media content (3D character animations laid into videos) or working on VFX and motion graphics layered onto 3D animations or captured videos are equally exciting to you.
You’ll have the ability to take briefs and transform them into engaging audience specific content for multiple platforms. A complete understanding of the production lifecycle is also required.
This is a client-facing role, so the skills to build and maintain relationships are key, along with the ability to take creative direction.
You’ll also need:
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of projects in each area of motion graphics, animation and video editing.
- Exceptional knowledge of visual effects programmes, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Adobe Audition, Cinema4D and the latest plugins.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, with a good understanding of asset creation
- Excellent design skills including, typography, layout, colour, composition including strong knowledge of colour grading.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of audio and video, including digital technologies and formats, aspect ratios, video codecs, file formats and specs for web and beyond
- Experience of a wide range of HD, UHD, HDR, RAW and VFX workflows

Responsibilities
Day-to-day you will:
- Produce bespoke motion graphics for the production of engaging trailers and video
- Show off your video editing skills by working with pre-produced video assets, transforming them into multiple videos and trailers across a range of advertising formats
- Demonstrate your excellent file structuring skills including versioning, localisation and rendering out
- Work alongside the design team, manipulating their assets to work within the trailers and videos being produced
- Process briefs and requirements from managers and clients
- Keep up to date with industry trends and use that knowledge to improve our processes
- Make use of your high level audio editing and sound design experience, flair with choosing music and sound effects to enhance productions
- Take responsibility for quality control of all media and materials - we are known for our top-tier production standards
- Work on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment to set deadlines
- Use your advanced problem-solving skills and apply them to operational situations. Look ahead with the planning team at projects and resourcing
- Revel in your role as the most experienced editor in our growing team. Act as the source of expertise for video and audio editing within our studio, guiding and training others as required
