Technical Environment Artist
Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Control®, Max Payne®, Alan Wake®, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world, is looking for a Technical Environment Artist to create high-quality gaming experiences for the next generation of games.
As a Technical Environment Artist on Control 2, you will play an important role in world-building and take part in creating visually stunning environments for all our players to enjoy!
Your work will focus on world building-tooling and workflows, content optimization, and improving the environment art team's efficiency. You will get the chance to work closely with both the Environment Art and Northlight team, so we are looking for a team-driven individual who enjoys working in close collaboration with highly skilled people from different crafts. In this role you will be an active member of our talented art team, and you will have the chance to contribute to shaping the future of our environment art craft workflows and pipelines.

What you'll get to do
- Develop technical standards for efficient content generation and contribute to validation checks.
- Drive framerate and content optimization of the game using in-game and external profiling tools.
- Take part in building tools and solutions to improve the environment art teams efficiency.
- Maintain content creation pipelines, workflows, and best practices.
- Support the content team in debugging issues with the game, tools, etc.
- Produce and maintain documentation of tools, processes and engine limitations.
- Conduct technical training for artists regarding performance and content creation standards.
What you bring to the role
- You have a strong technical background in AAA art production processes.
- You show good understanding of art fundamentals (composition, color, form, etc.) and have an eye for quality.
- You have basic proficiency in scripting in one or more of the following languages: Python/Lua/C#.
- You are used to working with performance profiling tools and have a good understanding of graphic rendering pipelines.
- You have experience with environment art content pipelines and DCC packages such as: Houdini, Maya, Substance, etc.
- You thrive working in a team environment, sharing ideas and learning from others. You are used to collaborating with colleagues across different departments and you are able to communicate and present your ideas in a clear and coherent way. As a team member, you are dedicated to contributing towards a friendly and inclusive work environment.
- You can also work independently, being organized and able to document your work.
Additional Skills We Would Like to See:
- Experience building open-world/open-area environments.
- Knowledge about Universal Scene Description (USD).
- Procedural content/environment generation pipeline and workflow experience.
